Damian Warner

Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Originally from St. Ives, Damian has always enjoyed an active lifestyle and a strong appreciation for Cornwall's natural surroundings.

With a lifelong passion for sports and movement, Damian has always been involved in athletic pursuits, competing at the county and regional levels in multiple sports in his younger years. His dedication to training and performance led him to achieve national medals and compete in international Judo competitions as a youth.

This early experience sparked a keen interest in human movement and performance, leading him to study a degree in Sport and Exercise Science in 2003. As he delved deeper into the science behind movement, injury prevention, and rehabilitation, he became increasingly motivated to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting to help others recover and perform at their best. His academic journey included research projects in Exercise Physiology and Sports Biomechanics, further deepening his understanding of the body's mechanics and movement optimization.

In 2006, Damian embarked on his Physiotherapy degree at Southampton University, where he graduated with First-Class Honours. During his studies, he spent his summers working as a professional Beach Lifeguard with the RNLI and had the opportunity to live in Australia, expanding his experiences in different environments and later working at Griffith University on the Gold Coast as part of a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy research team.

Damian's professional career in Physiotherapy began with Portsmouth Football Club during their Premier League, FA Cup-winning era, providing invaluable exposure to high-performance sports rehabilitation. He later returned to Cornwall, gaining extensive experience at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in a variety of specialities such as Trauma, Orthopaedics, Intensive Care, and Neurology. He progressed to a Senior Physiotherapist before specialising in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.

Furthering his expertise, Damian completed Masters-level qualifications in Acupuncture and Injection Therapy before becoming an Advanced Practitioner within the NHS. His commitment to professional development also led him to be involved in Physiotherapy research, and providing supervision and teaching within the NHS. Additionally, he has expanded his knowledge in Occupational Health and Ergonomics, earning recognition as a Technical Member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE).

Alongside his Physiotherapy career, Damian has been fortunate enough to compete at an elite level himself, representing Great Britain in Stand-Up Paddleboard Racing at World and European Championships in countries such as Denmark, Fiji, and France. More recently, he was selected by Paddle UK for the Great Britain Ocean Canoe Team.

Outside of work, Damian loves spending time outdoors and in the sea, making the most of Cornwall’s stunning coastline. As a father of two active children, he understands the importance of staying strong, mobile, and pain-free—not just for performance, but for an active and fulfilling life.

Damian is dedicated to helping individuals recover, improve, and thrive through tailored Physiotherapy interventions, drawing on his diverse background in elite sports, research, and clinical practice.
